Tottenham Court Road Underground station by bowroaduk
We will see: "At Tottenham Court Road station, supervisor Barry Griffiths is keeping the crowds moving - in the midst of huge rebuilding works making the station six times bigger. But will his customers be impressed with the results?." It was good when Northern Line trains finally started stopping there again after seven months of closure.
On tonight's episode we'll also see David Waboso, London Underground's head of upgrades, who thinks he has the answer to increased passenger numbers on the Tube (Overall, passenger journeys on the London Underground have increased by 10% going from 970 million in 2000 to 1100 million in 2009). However, "new trains on the Victoria Line keep letting him down because of a problem with the doors - and a newly-installed signal fails, causing huge delays".
Geoff Marshall's video (above) when the new Victoria Line stock was introduced & the last 1967 train went out of service showed that the new trains weren't exactly welcomed with open arms. Funnily enough whilst filming this last summer, Victoria mentions they saw some of the crew filming tonight's episode of The Tube! So if you were waving off the 1967 stock you might see yourself featured tonight.
