King's Cross Bomb Survivor in Sunday Times

London Underground bomb survivor Rachel in Sunday Times

Regular readers will know that I only discovered
Rachel's King's Cross Bombing Victim's survivor's blog a relatively short time ago (October 11th). However, whenever anything that reminds me about the attacks on the Tube, the victims and the survivors (eg the recent St Paul's Memorial, Blair's anti-terrorism proposals) I look at her blog. Every time I look at her blog I feel grateful for the fact that there are still people like Rachel in the world, who can look beyond their own problems and not see themselves as a victim. People who have compassion and sympathy for others and try to see them as individuals rather than bunch them together in a group.

Once again she has shocked and yet totally humbled me, as from the front page of yesterday's Sunday Times, I learnt that not only did she go through the hideous events of the July 7th bombing, but also a few years earlier was violently raped. Indeed she was reading an article about her rape, that she had written for Marie Claire, only minutes before her carriage was blown up by terrorists.

If you have the chance to read the Sunday Times article please do - or at least visit her blog to see what she has said about the article and read other people's comments. Thanks
